Shaft with polygonal seat
How does Dierre work? To involve you in our daily activity, we want to tell you about how we created, with the collaboration of our trusted suppliers for heat treatments, a decidedly special piece.
The shaft with a polygonal seat, made of 42CrMo4, encompasses a bit of all the mechanical processes that we perform at Dierre, with the integration of two heat treatments carried out by our trusted suppliers, with whom we have been collaborating for many years: gas nitriding and case hardening.
Determination of a dedicated thermal cycle
The peculiarity of this component is its internal seat with a polygonal profile that has a very tight tolerance.

This is even more critical because it must be maintained even after heat treatment.
Thanks to our technical know-how and the collaboration with our trusted suppliers, it was possible to define a dedicated thermal cycle so as to allow us to evaluate the intrinsic dimensional deformation and compensate for them during the processing phase.
A challenge within a challenge
In addition to defining a dedicated thermal cycle, it was also necessary to create and test a series of gauges to allow us to verify the seat and be able to test the part.
For the realization of the gauges, we opted for an execution in 18NiCrMo5 with case hardening + quenching + tempering treatment followed by reworking of the profile: thus, it was possible to obtain the correct dimension.
We were born 45 years ago…
Dierre was born as a small artisan company in the 80s and today it is a company specialized in precision mechanics with more than 20 employees.
We have technologically advanced machinery but also consolidated partnerships that allow us to create the finished product for the customer, often exceeding their expectations.
Furthermore, we offer our customers an efficient customer service capable of constantly maintaining and providing quick and decisive responses.
